Instructional Beer Cans

You will notice that this can has an illustration showing how to open the can. When cans were introduced in 1935 it was not self-explanatory how to open them so can manufacturers included instructions on the can. As the public became more familiar with beer cans there was no longer a need for the instructions. For the most part, the instructions were dropped in the late 1940's. However, a few brands continued to display the instructions until the early 1950's. These cans appeal to the collector due to their age as well as the graphic nature of the instructions. In mint condition, these cans are worth from $40 to in excess of $1,000. Below are some examples of what different instructional panels look like.
